Monitoring Your Tire Pressure Mounting System

The tire pressure mounting system is an important component in your car because it continuously monitors the air pressure in your tires so you’re not driving on underinflated or overinflated tires. Each tire has a sensor inside that monitors air pressure and alerts you if your tire pressure is incorrect. At Grand Valley Auto Lakewood, we want you to understand how it works, what activates it and how to tell if it’s malfunctioning.

The sensors are linked to your car’s onboard computer. When it detects incorrect pressure, it will illuminate. Things that can affect tire pressure and make the tire pressure mounting system alert you include:
• Punctured or damaged tire
• Temperature changes
• Tire wearing unevenly

If your tire pressure mounting system doesn’t appear to be working correctly, it needs to be serviced as soon as possible to avoid damage to your tires. Stop at our Lakewood shop at your earliest convenience.
